Before BCLP was established opal valuations were simply an individual’s opinion and depended heavily on that individual’s knowledge and ethics which lead to huge variances between valuers rendering them all limited. The problem is not restricted just to those million dollar gemstone transactions it actually has a negative effect dragging down the whole opal market. Other gemstone markets heavily benefit by having trusted and reliable standards and valuations

Using the very latest colour analysis technology and combined expertise of multiple decades within the opal industry we have developed a standard for analysing and valuing opal. Like all gemstones, opal is valued by analysing the characteristics of the stone and current market conditions to determine the value per carat this is then multiplied by the gemstone's weight to give the accurate and current value. Revaluations and Appraisal Transfers

We store all the determining factors for valuing each gemstone and regularly monitor market conditions so we are able to revalue it in the future without physically handling the asset. We can also change ownership of the appraisal and issue a new version to reflect a change in ownership of the asset. If required appraisals can have the personal details of the owner added.

We believe this differentiates our valuation services above others and makes ours more end customer focused and flexible. Should your customer wish to sell their opal at a later date they can provide the new purchaser with a current appraisal just as they received for a small admin fee or make that option available to their purchaser to obtain themselves. Revaluations can also be required by insurance companies equally these can be provided by request and payment of the admin fee.
